A: Make whichever one is more useful / accessible to you. If you can personally use the Glyph, or a freind can do likewise, then make that one over another. In any case, it shouldn't be a difficult choice. If you plan to sell your Glyphs, check which ones are in demand on the Auction House (Glyph of Sinister Strike is usually in demand).

1.1 What is Inscription?

• Inscription is a primary profession added by the second World of Warcraft Expansion Pack, the Wrath of the Lich King. It allows players to create 'Glyphs', which enhance abilities or spells, as well as a variety of off-hand items, scrolls, and 'Armor Vellums', which can be used to store or hold enchantments (via the Enchanting profession).

1.2 Gathering or Service Profession?

• Inscription is a Service Profession in which players use gathered materials to create items for other players.

1.3 Why choose Inscription?

• With Inscription you can create Glyphs (see Glyphs below) for other players, which enhance spells or abilities. You can also create Cards (see Cards below), and Pigments / Ink for other Inscribers.
• Each class has dozens of Glyphs, and some are quite rare. This should lead to a relatively constant demand on the Auction House. Selling 'Vellums' to Enchanters is also a good route to profitization, as is selling the Darkmoon Cards.

1.4 What professions go along well with Inscription?

• Herbalism: Inscription uses herbs extensively to create Pigments. The herbs are first Milled. It is very difficult to level up your Inscription without Herbalism.
• Enchanting: With Enchanting and Inscription you can selling your own echants on the Auction House. If you team up with a character that has Herbalism, you can do quite well.

1.5 Do you require any items to be a Scribe?

• Yes, a Virtuoso Inking Set must be in your bag to use all Inscription recipes, except for scrolls past the first level of each type, as well as Weapon / Armor Vellum recipes.
  • Isn’t soulbound and can be purchased from any supplies vendor near an inscription trainer for 7s12c (6s with exalted discount).
  • Sold in all capital cities, along with Honor Hold, Dalaran, Borean Tundra, and Howling Fjord.

1.6 What are Glyphs, Armor / Weapon Vellums, and Scrolls?

• See below in Section 2.

2.2 Pigments

• You create Pigments with the Milling ability.
• With Milling you can turn 5 herbs into 2-3 Pigments, which are then turned into Ink and used in combination with Parchment to create Glyphs:

2.3 Ink

• After you create Pigments, you can turn them into Ink. You can use Ink to create Glyphs. Most Glyphs require 1 Ink, but some are more expensive and require 2. Inscription Trainers sell the recipies to turn Pigments into Ink.

2.4 Glyphs

• Each player has a Glyph Interface that is attached to their Spellbook
• Glyphs may be traded or sold, with the exception of some Inscriptionist only Glyphs (Similar to the Epic gems that are only usable by Jewelcrafters). Stack up to 5 in your inventory.
• Players use Glyphs to add effects (Major and some Minor Glyphs) or cosmetic changes (Minor Glyphs) to their spells.
• Glyphs are destroyed when applied, and may be overwritten (similar to gems in Jewelcrafting).
